JGHS Principal Jon Clark expressed his delight at the high engagement of the approximately 600 students who attended in two sessions due to COVID restrictions..
"It was awe-inspiring to see so many of our young people fully engaged in this world-class event. This year there was a wide range of activities and professionals for the students to visit, and I have had some very positive feedback from the employers,”Mr. Clark stated.
He also thanked the various stakeholders and commented on the day's success. "We are very appreciative of our community partners that put together such interesting and stimulating activities and also grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the DES Careers Services team on another successful career fair. This event seems to get better and better each year, and it is great that we can work with the business community and other stakeholders to inspire our young people."
The career fair was the culmination of the school's career week, which began on Monday (8 February) with daily assemblies featuring John Gray alumni and successful local business people who inspired the Year 11 audience. More than one hundred and sixty students also participated in mock interviews with some of the biggest employers on island throughout the week. One student, Jhadari Lumley was praised by her interviewer Ms. Charlene Howell-Litchmore, as being ‘world-class’ and was immediately referred to Chief Officer Mrs. Gloria McField Nixon as a future intern with the Civil Service.
