Cayman: Four new positive tests; isolation procedure outlined
At today’s press briefing, the Chief Medical Officer reported that 46 additional results have been returned since yesterday. Some 16 originated from the government facility and were all negative.
Four additional positives were reported at today’s press briefing. Three were contacts to previous positive cases, while one had previous travel history.
Cayman now has 39 total positive tests. This is an approximate 10 per cent positive test rate.
Most people in Cayman are doing well. One person has been admitted to the Health Services Authority.

When a person is identified as being positive for COVID-19, they are alerted. A public health nurse then comes to the home and discusses the situation with the patient and tests close contacts, which often includes those in the household and those with extensive contact. These individuals are not to leave the house under the law. They are contacted daily to check on their temperatures. Assistance is provided on a number of fronts including obtaining food, added medicine, etc.
New ways of monitoring and providing added security are being explored. At the end of the 14-day quarantine period, they are tested again.
The Director of the Sister islands health service has indicated that Commissioner Byrne has determined what added supplies will be required. There have been 11 people tested in Cayman Brac with the one positive test that was reported yesterday and the family of that individual has been isolated.
The positive case in Cayman Brac is being handled in the exact same way as in Grand Cayman.
After added tests arrive next week, more individuals will be tested and isolated to protect the community.
