Cayman is the best place to raise kids – 5 reasons why
Here are the top 5 reasons why Cayman is an excellent place to raise kids.
The job of parenting on these islands is so much easier for all of these reasons as well, with so many races and nationalities, a strong sense of community, a high degree of safety, an exceptional educational system, the fact that everyone knows everyone and there is beauty all around year-round, anyone who gets to grow up in the Cayman Islands can call themselves lucky.
Here are the top 5 reasons why Cayman is an excellent place to raise kids.
1. The sense of community
According to Patrice Boothe, raising children in Cayman "means family, and being a mother not only to your biological children but also to those whose lives you have affected in one way or the other." Maria Fisher Leggatt echoes, it means "you have the peace of mind that not just you, but your community is keeping an eye out for your kids. Sometimes it’s a bad thing but more often than not it’s a good thing especially when you have daughters. It really does take a village to raise kids but Grand Cayman is a great village to be in.
2. It is safe
According to Hollie Whitelocke, "Being a Mom in Cayman means feeling more secure about the safety of your children. It’s a true blessing to raise our children here knowing that we don’t have to worry as much about some of the dangers Moms in other countries face."
3. These islands are magical
"Cayman is a wonderful, magical place to be a Mom, for kids to grow up," says Sara Harbison Mackay. "I love some of the practical stuff: I always need a towel in the car. An extra pair of shorts or bathing suit helps too, cuz there are sweet little beaches to be explored all over. Your kids go to bed physically tired almost every night."
4. Built-in friendships
In a place like Cayman, everyone knows everyone else. Kathy Leggatt Jackson speaks of "the ease of knowing so many of your kids' friends’ parents coz you went to school with them!"
Sara Harbison Mackay says, "Most places you go, you know someone or someone knows you. Translates to kids buying cigarettes at the gas station get seen."
5. Diversity
The multitude of races and nationalities in Cayman make it a warm, accepting and unified place to raise children. According to Tina Bina, "Having my kids grow up around such diversity, the ability to get a great education and feeling safe enough to not hover constantly means the world to me! I consider myself to be so lucky to be able to raise my kids here."
