COVID-19 Guidance: Policy & Sanitation Guidelines for Tourism

COVID-19 Guidance: Policy & Sanitation Guidelines for Tourism

The Department of Tourism has created a document to provide tourism businesses in the Cayman Islands with a template for the drafting of their own COVID-19 policy.

Following collaboration with Government partners such as the Ministry of Health, Department of Environmental Health, and collaboration with private sector stakeholders and principles of international health entities such as Public Health England, the Department of Tourism has also developed standards of practice to establish industry guidelines for sanitation.

Please review the below advice and guidelines to assist with creating a safe environment for our industry. The Cayman Islands tourism industry is comprised of many business categories that both directly and indirectly service our visitors.

Advice On Writing Your COVID-19 Policy

It is recommended that a COVID-19 policy should be visible so that customers are able to see the necessary steps your business is taking the necessary steps to ensure their safety and health. Key areas that should be included in your plan are:

- Put a plan in place to reassure your customers that you have their well-being at heart. (This can be done via social media/company websites).
- Tell your customers about the additional hygiene measures your business has put in place.
- Have a clear cancellation policy.
- Ensure that it is easy for potential customers to contact you.
- Ensure that your policy is visible inside your business and on your website and social media platforms.
- Ensure that you remain flexible.
