Digicel Cayman upgrades network while lowering its carbon footprint
Digicel has unveiled a major boost to its network for customers in the Cayman Islands, with upgraded towers, increased 3G and LTE network capacity and enhanced LTE data c
As part of the ongoing improvement and upgrade process, Digicel has opted to discontinue its 2G coverage, which will reduce the company’s power consumption while improving its service.
“By replacing 2G with 3G and LTE we are lowering our carbon footprint and enhancing performance and reliability. It is a win-win for both Digicel and our customers,” explained Kevin Mullings, Switch Engineer at Digicel Cayman.
Improved mobile data speeds and service will allow customers to do more with their data including watching shows and movies, making video calls, playing games, and listening to music.
Customers will also benefit from faster upload and download speeds, better real-time communication and more reliable service.
“Our commitment to our customers means that we are always adapting and creating capacity where it is needed,” said Raul Nicholson-Coe, CEO of Digicel Cayman. “This means we are continually working to enhance our existing network.”
Digicel is the fastest-growing mobile operator in the Caribbean, offering a full range of services including LTE Mobile and Broadband products, services and accessories.
