This figure takes into account 116 additional voters who have joined the
list since July this year, and 65 individuals who have been removed
(either due to death, incarceration or mental illness).
The increase of 116 voters is more than double the 51 additional voters who were added to the list in July 2019.
The next official register of Electors will be issued on 1 January
2020, and October 1 is the registration deadline to register to be
included on that list, and to be able to vote from 1 January 2020.
The Elections Office reminds the public of the following requirements to register to vote:
Those wishing to register to vote are reminded to complete an
application form available from the Elections Office website and submit
the following required original documents to the Registering Officer for
your district or to the Elections Office.
Original documents required from Caymanian Status Holders:
Individuals who are unsure if they are currently registered to vote are
able to check their details on the Elections Office website.
Anyone who has moved residence or changed names or occupation and
has not informed the Elections Office is strongly encouraged to do so by
completing a form available on the Election Office website and
submitting it to either the Registering Officer for your district or to
the Elections Office.
District Registering Officers have removed 185 voters who have passed
away over the last 12 months. However, it is still possible that the
Registering Officers were not made aware of other registered voters who
passed away, particularly persons who have died overseas.
The Elections Office asks that individuals who are aware of registered
voters who have recently passed away to contact them in order to ensure
the Official Register of Electors is as accurate as possible.
Persons who have recently concluded a prison sentence of more than 12
months are reminded that they need to re-register to vote using the same
process as described above.
