Large volume of incoming international mail is being delivered after sanitation is complete
On Thursday, 18th June 2020, the CIPS received over 500 kilograms of mail from the UK and a small quantity of letter mail from Curacao.
Though the mail received from the UK is only about 20% of the volume that the CIPS is aware was pending transportation to the Cayman Islands from the UK, it is the first time since the closure of airports in the Cayman Islands that the CIPS has received incoming international mail.
The mail received on Thursday is being sanitized and will be delivered to addressees starting on Monday, 22 June 2020. The CIPS apologies that due to additional procedures to sanitize the mail, delivery of it could not commence on Friday, 19 June 2020 as would normally have been the case.
Customers awaiting the arrival of traceable items from the UK, are advised to monitor tracking sites for updates. The CIPS will provide tracking events on items received, as they are processed.
