Just after 8:30PM yesterday, Saturday 26 December, a 20-year-old-man of George Town surrendered to the Cayman Islands Detention Centre in relation to the fatal stabbing incident that took place on Thursday 24 December. The man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody pending further enquiries as the murder investigation continues.
Police can confirm that the identity of the victim in the stabbing incident was 22-year-old Michael Aaron Bush of West Bay. The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family of the deceased.
The investigation has also led investigators to believe that just before the incident took place, at about 2AM, there was a disturbance outside the clubs of the Strand and both parties involved ran out into the parking lot. Additionally, investigators are also aware that there were over 20 persons in the area immediately after the incident took place.
