Man in court accused of attempting to murder Salman Rushdie
A man has appeared in court in New York accused of attacking the author Sir Salman Rushdie. Hadi Matar, 24, of New Jersey, pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted second degree murder.
Rushdie, 75, suffered a damaged liver, severed nerves in an arm and an eye, and was on a ventilator and unable to speak after the attack.
