Massive cargo ship delivers aggregate for Cayman airport
The Curacao Pearl, a 615‑foot-long cargo ship, has been an impressive sight off the George Town Harbour over the past week.
The massive vessel, which sailed from Kingston, Jamaica Monday, has docked in Cayman to offload aggregate to be used in the extension of Owen Roberts International Airport.
The ship, which was built in 1984 and is registered in the Bahamas, weighs 42,913 tons and is capable of carrying up to 27,818 gross tons of cargo.
The Curacao Pearl is expected to depart Cayman this week.
