More negative tests, curfew adjustments to go into effect tomorrow

All of the negative results received today have been negative. 15 results, including one from Health City have come back negative. 190 tests have been conducted with 181 negatives. There is still one inconclusive case at HSA which is with CARPHA. All of the positive cases appear to be doing well.
The foreign office has paid for and procured supplies that will arrive within a week. This includes supplies for testing.

“We still have very little evidence of community spread. That is a remarkable achievement,” said the premier at today’s press briefing.

Our survival plan is “Stay home Cayman,” said the premier.

The 24-hour lockdown will end at 5 am tomorrow morning. This will be replaced with new shelter in place provisions.

A soft curfew will take place from 5.01 am until 7 pm and then the hard curfew will commence again from 7 pm until 5 am.

“This is how we will live certainly until next Friday,” said the premier.

Under the soft curfew, visits to the supermarket, pharmacy, gas station and bank will be allowed and exercise and dog walking, with restrictions, will be allowed. Otherwise, the public must remain at home. Taxi drivers will be allowed to transport no more than two passengers at a time.

Individuals can walk their pet and exercise outdoors for no more than an hour a day and must maintain at least six feet from other people. There should be no gym use. There are to be no gatherings around or use of public pools.

Individuals are not allowed to be on boats, including fishing. This is because the police are currently unable to police the waters.

Individuals will be able to go to the beach in groups of two.

Weddings can have no more than ten persons. Funerals can have no more than ten persons of the immediate family, 6 pallbearers and one person to officiate and undertakers.

Essential workers will be allowed to work during the soft curfew. They are to abide by the shelter in place provisions when they are not working.

Under the hard curfew, almost all businesses will be shut down except restaurants conducting deliveries.

Starting 6 am tomorrow, supermarkets, grocery stores, liquor stores, banks, gas stations and health care facilities will be able to stay open until 6 pm.

The shelter in place provisions, in their entirety, will be provided on Loop Cayman as soon as they are provided by the Cayman Islands Government.

The police will be allowed to use reasonable force to enforce these regulations.

The Police Commissioner indicated that there has been a very good record of compliance with the curfew. The statistics have been as follows:

Little Cayman: No issues from yesterday

Cayman Brac: There were 94 police interceptions with 8 breaches of curfew from yesterday.

Grand Cayman: 292 police interceptions and 15 breaches of curfew with 4 arrests from yesterday.

All three islands: 400 interceptions and 7 warnings so far for today.

"We are treating this as a humanitarian crisis," said the premier. "We have a duty to make sure that everyone who lives here gets through this time and that is what the government is going to do."
