Chief Medical Officer, Dr John Lee, reports that 620 swabs have been tested overnight for SARS-CoV-2 since yesterday’s press conference at 1p.m. on Saturday, 10 October. None of these returned a positive result.
The majority of these results were in people who had come forward for testing as a result of concerns relating to the positive case of
COVID-19 reported in a child attending Red Bay Primary School. One hundred and sixteen of these were in children aged between one and 18 years old.
Most people used the emergency drive-through facility at the Cayman Islands Hospital of the Health Services Authority. The CMO thanks all staff who provided this urgent service, and the public for their cooperation throughout the process.
The drive through
COVID-19 testing facility will be open at the Cayman Islands Hospital again tomorrow (Monday, 12 October) between 7a.m. to 9.30a.m. Persons should wear a mask and make sure to take photo identification for everyone who would like to be tested (including children).
