Seven Caymanians ages 65+ have been chosen by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) as its Older Persons Month Ambassadors for October.
Hon. Mrs. Mary Lawrence (Bodden Town), Mrs. Norma Scott (Cayman Brac), Mr. Trevor Watler (East End), Ms Jane Ramoon (George Town), Mr. Franklin Churchill Bodden (Little Cayman), Ms Lucille Douglas (North Side) and Mrs. Margaret “Lizzie” Powell (West Bay) will be representing their districts during the annual observance.
Older Persons Month Ambassadors Ms Jane Ramoon and Hon Mary Lawrence visit the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.
“We chose our 2020 ambassadors because of their exceptional community service records over the years,” said DCFS Director Mrs. Paulinda Mendoza-Williams.
“They will each bring a wealth of selflessness, good humour and strong interpersonal skills to our events,” she continued.
“Already respected in their districts, this October’s Older Persons Month will present a wonderful opportunity for them to reconnect with their peers, and to share our 2020 theme of “Life Stories: Then and Now. Each Ambassador in their own unique way has created memorable life stories which we hope can inspire others.”
Older Persons Month Ambassador bios, outlining their backgrounds and various achievements, will be published in the local media throughout the month ahead.
