The Emmy Awards ceremony will be held virtually this year
The 72nd Emmy Awards ceremony, that celebrates American television industry, will be completely virtual due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which is ravaging the United States.
The organizers of the event, which is scheduled for September 20, sent a letter to all the selected candidates, whose names were published on Tuesday, to inform them that the gala organized in Los Angeles will not be held this year.
Given the current health crisis, the organizers of the ceremony had yet to make a decision on the matter.
As you probably can guess, we are not going to ask them to come to the Microsoft Theater, in downtown Los Angeles, on September 20. It will be once again the biggest evening in the television industry ... but we will come to you, explains a letter released on Wednesday by Emmy's spokesperson.
We are bringing together a team of top-notch technicians, producers and authors to go film them at their homes or wherever they choose," says the letter signed by the production and the presenter of the ceremony, comedian Jimmy Kimmel.
