Tropical Storm Iota forms in the Caribbean; advances towards Central America
The tropical storm Iota formed Friday in the Caribbean and is forecast to reach hurricane strength as it travels to Central America.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Iota could generate dangerous winds, storm surge and rain in Nicaragua and Honduras by Sunday night.
Iota could wreak havoc in a region that still suffers from the aftermath of Eta, which left more than 120 dead and many missing.
Iota is the 30th named storm in the current Atlantic hurricane season, which this year has set a record.
