Two-Vehicle Collision with Injuries on Walkers Road
Just before 9PM, 8 August, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a two-vehicle collision that took place along Walkers Road, in the vicinity of Academy Way.
The collision took place between a white Toyota Corolla and a blue Volkswagen Jetta. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, who was taken to the hospital, is now believed to have serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in the hospital awaiting further treatment.
The driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside and as a result, he was extricated from the vehicle by the Cayman Islands Fire Service after which he was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he is currently being treated for what is believed to be serious and life-threatening-injuries. The driver of the other vehicle did not report any injuries to the investigators.
Both north and south bound lanes along Walkers Road were closed and traffic being diverted between Academy Way and Rowley Rise. Motorists were being asked to avoid the area if possible and to exercise caution otherwise, as officers will be on scene carrying out their investigations. The area of Walkers Road that was closed to facilitate the investigation has now been re-opened to the public.
