We introduce the concept of a hedge fund by going over a brief and basic overview. Hedge funds get mentioned a lot in the financial media, particularly due to their involvement in various market downturns. However, it seems many people do not fully know what a hedge fund is or how it differs from traditional funds.
This video is a good starting point to understand the basics, before we can delve in deeper into specific advanced topics related to hedge funds and other aspects of the financial services industry. We also briefly cover the case studies of LTCM, the financial crisis and Bernie Madoff, which are all topics we will focus on in more detail in the future.
